Why Your Kitchen Doesn’t Need to Be Replaced – It Needs to Be Reimagined

The high–impact kitchen refresh: paint, hardware, lighting, and styling that transform without demolition

The before–and-after photos above tell the story clearly. This Lakewood Ranch Country Club residential kitchen arrived with dated brown wood–grain cabinets and odd colored island, small disappearing knobs, and three mini pendants over the island that did nothing to elevate the stunning countertops already in place. The client assumed a full replacement was the only path forward. It wasn’t.

We assessed the bones first. The cabinet boxes were solid, the proportions, excellent, and the layout functional – a perfect candidate for transformation rather than demolition. Our skilled painting crew repainted everything in Sherwin-Williams Grizzle Gray, a sophisticated tone selected specifically to complement the existing countertops and allow it to finally read as the jewel it always was.

Hardware is the jewelry of the kitchen. Knobs disappear – pulls make a statement. We replaced every piece with long matte handles, then carried that finish through a new black-trimmed dome light overhead, a matte black faucet, RO spigot and matching soap pump. Black trays on countertops, or propped against white backsplash tiles create a staged backdrop for accessories and block excessive wall outlets. When the same finish appears at every height, the room feels authored.

To soften the bold contrast of gray and black we styled key areas with orchids and succulents – organic elements placed thoughtfully, so they enhance the space without interfering with the cooking zone. The final touch was updating the window treatment over the sink: from dated brown Venetian blinds to chic white mesh roller shade letting in the light yet filtering for privacy.

The result: a completely transformed kitchen. No demolition, no new cabinets – just paint, hardware, lighting, and intentional styling.
