You don’t have to gut a kitchen to give it a brand-new personality. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh eye and a few strategic swaps.
Good cabinets? Keep them. Maybe it’s the countertop that needs a refresh. Great backsplash tile? Let it set your color story instead of starting from scratch. Extending a countertop can even create new counter-height seating — instant gathering space.
Take this Sarasota waterfront condo we recently re-styled. The “before” was charmless — dated, flat, forgettable. We changed the flooring, added a new wall paint color, and focused our energy on styling: countertops, floors, artwork, and a few organic touches like faux plants. Small moves, dramatic difference.
A few tricks we love: tuck the trash can under the sink instead of leaving it out in the open.
Use empty peninsula-end space for artwork — unexpected, but why leave it blank?
Matching countertop trays hide those extra wall outlets and double as backdrops for staging everyday essentials.
We also love mixing metals — a silver fruit bowl contrasting gold utensils adds effortless dimension.
And instead of a spongy foam mat in front of the sink, we customized parts of a custom entry rug into a beautiful, durable kitchen rug.
