An SRQ Interior Design Project
When our clients brought us into their new Sarasota condo, the primary bedroom presented a classic challenge: a king-size bed in a room that simply wasn’t built for one. With the bathroom entry positioned on the left, the right side of the bed was left with barely any space at all — hardly enough for a nightstand, let alone the lighting and surface area both sleepers needed.
Rather than move the bed, we got creative. On the right side, we installed a floating shelf, matched precisely to the height and depth of the new nightstand on the left, so the two would read as one balanced pair. Matching lamps were added to both sides, with the lamp cord on the floating shelf tucked neatly behind it for a clean, seamless look.
From there, we layered in new accessories, window treatments and rug to bring softness, light, and life into the space. We landed on a sophisticated coastal palette of blues, tans, and crisp whites, elevated well beyond the expected. A mirror on the left wall now reflects light and visually expands the room.
Near the left nightstand, an unattractive electrical panel had been left fully exposed-an eyesore original to the unit. We sourced an elevated piece of artwork sized and placed to cover it completely, turning a practical necessity into an intentional design moment.
Compare this to the before photo, and the transformation speaks for itself.
If you’ve inherited a space that needs to be redefined, SRQ Interior Design can curate every detail and bring in the elegance it deserves.
