Redesigning the Interior of a Longboat Key Condo

My SRQ Interior Design team was delighted to redesign the previously super 1980’s interior of a condo in Longboat Key Florida. It had great bones, and almost a full open plan with a view of The Gulf through an entire wall of glass doors. We were so excited to dig in and start the design process. The Great-room became the starting point, style and heart of the house.

The first thing we did was to reverse the living room focal point toward The Gulf. This opened up the room and seemed to let in much more light not to mention a more beautiful view for sofa sitters.

Next, because the Great-room had such a long tv wall, we designed a gorgeous modern full-wall built-in. To make the center more exciting we covered it with a gorgeous pewter and gold cork wallpaper. This is where the tv and below it a modern electric fireplace were installed.

Believe it or not here in Florida we do have some cool weeks so can appreciate the warmth of a fireplace! During warmer climates just the holographic flames from this sleek fireplace is beautiful to watch. Because the fireplace below the tv needed to span the width of the center area, we added a black stone square panel to each side. Our talented artist faux-finished the air duct grill above to mimic the cork wallpaper.

At each side we created different sized mirror image cubbies for our client’s beautiful art and sculpture which were lit from within. This created soft ambient light in the evenings. Sleek smooth-faced cabinets were added to store grandkid’s toys.

The result is a gorgeous Great-room wall that shows off our client’s beautiful accessories, provides storage, adds ambient light, delights the eyes with dancing flames, houses the requisite tv and adds warmth and drama to complete the transformation of this stunning Florida condo.
