Among a full house renovation, we had the pleasure of helping create an updated stairwell design in a gorgeous home in Longboat Key for long term clients.
The original stairwell, leading from the great-room to the super high second floor, wound around a dated wide pillar. The metal banisters and railing lacked charm and the stairs were covered in dull grey carpet. An arched niche was inconveniently placed on the curved left wall.
Check out our “after” photo, showing how the stairwell was re-shaped, with an mid-story landing, new millwork wall details, and all white newel posts and finishes with naturally grained wood stair treads and handrails. A dramatic chandelier centered the area. There was even space for a charming playroom under the stairwell!
