The original office wasn’t a bad room- check out the before picture. It just wasn’t living up to its potential. A desk anchored squarely in the center declared loudly: this space does one thing. Our first move was space planning- always the first leap. By shifting the desk to the perimeter and introducing a plush sofa with a clear sightline to the TV, the room quietly became two things at once: a productive workspace and a place to actually exhale.

“Space planning is the skeleton. Everything else- the rug, the art, the light- is how the room learns to breathe”

From there, the details did the heavy lifting. A geometric patterned rug grounded the space and softened the acoustics. An updated darker glass topped desk, and linen rolling desk chair graced the space under the TV. Sheer linen curtain panels filtered the neighbor’s view while pulling in warm, diffused light. A chair rail divided the walls- cool light gray above, and a deeper tone below- adding dimension that kept the room from feeling flat. Balanced artwork filled the walls with intention rather than afterthought. Lighting became key: wall sconces behind the sofa, softened drum light overhead, and the oversized floor lamp near the desk together surrounded the room with light.

And the metals? We mixed them freely- black, silver, and gold- because warmth lives in that tension. A silver floor lamp and silver trimmed ottomans, gold curtain rods matching the desk chair metal, black sconces and drum pendant: small coordinated decisions that signal a room has been truly thought through. The result is an office that feels inviting, not institutional.
