From Traditional to Transitional: A Dramatic Transformation of a Panther Ridge Dining Room

This was our first project to update a large traditional home for our chic clients in Lakewood Ranch. Check out the dining room “Before” pic to see the starting point.

Our clients had already eliminated the feature wall millwork, and created this beautiful wall to wall built-in, but didn’t know what the next steps should be.

We chose a “sexy” dark grey for the built-in with long hammered almost black pulls for contrast, and stained the countertop to match their wood grained dining table. Out went “too much wood” chairs, in favor of soft cream upholstered chairs with, again, matching warm wood legs. Softening the space, a rug was brought in, with soft blues to add layers to the space, and pewter and caramel grasscloth wallpaper was placed within the built-in cubby. We found the perfect black metal and facetted glass pendant light, tall enough for these high ceilings, and framed a local artists’s Suncoast sunset print for the focal point in this new Transitional dining room. From there accessories and finishing touches were added.

Check out the “After” pic and let us know your thoughts! If you have a challenging space and don’t know how to updated it we can help create the dining room of your dreams.
